In case your mornings have been made incomplete without clocking in a few runs ’round the University of the Philippines’ Academic Oval, here’s some good news: UP Diliman just reopened its popular outdoor spot for fitness enthusiasts.

Also known colloquially as the Acad Oval, the UP Diliman Academic Oval is one of the University’s most recognizable landmarks and is a well-known venue for runners, bikers, dog walkers, and even families who just want to get some fresh air.

The UP Diliman Office of the Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs issued reminders on the reopening of the Acad Oval on the University’s official Facebook page.

According to their post, the Academic Oval will open beginning November 15 from 4 a.m. to 9.a.m and from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. daily for joggers and walkers of all ages, regardless of vaccination status. Individuals must continue to wear face masks and follow health protocols at all times.

Bikers may use the following roads within the prescribed hours: University Avenue, Jacinto, Lakandula, Quirino, Ma. Guerrero, Laurel Avenue, Balagtas, and Magsaysay Avenue. Meanwhile, Areas 1, 2, and 3 and other residential areas are off-limits to bikers. Riders must follow a counter-clockwise direction at all times.

In case your family wants to stretch their legs, UP Diliman allows groups of 10 people or less to use the open spaces along University Avenue, Sunken Garden, and PAUW within the aforementioned hours. Visitors must take their trash as they go.

Spanning a total of 2.2 kilometers in circumference, the UP Academic Oval connects the University’s colleges from the main University Avenue, and is home to the famous Sunken Garden.
