Uh-oh! Shirley Kuan calls Georgina Wilson a ‘was’ girl

The Sunday lifestyle section of the Philippine Daily Inquirer ran “How do you solve a problem like Georgina,” a story about the falling out of the model Georgina Wilson and her (ex) manager Shirley Kuan.

Written by Cheche V. Moral, the story airs the many grievances — dirty laundry and all — of Kuan about her (ex) alaga Georgina Wilson. “Was girl na siya,” Kuan exclaims.

The problem exploded when Wilson nabbed herself a Samsung endorsement without Kuan’s knowledge. Kuan was quoted in the article as saying this isn’t the first time Wilson has gone behind her back. Obviously, it was the last straw for Kuan.

“She’s done that before,” Kuan says, adding that Wilson would make appearances without telling her. “Can you imagine how that made me look?”

Not only did Kuan drop Wilson from her agency, the manager of the likes of Coco Martin, Albert Martinez, and Maricel Soriano, has also filed a complaint with the 300-strong Professional Artist Managers Inc against Wilson.

Nobody will talk about the sanctions that PAMI will be give to Wilson, but people have already started talking about her “bad behavior.” A couple of fashion magazine editors have called her a diva, a member of the production team of the regional show she’s part of has called Wilson “pakialamera.” Several more have mentioned her tardiness — somebody event pointed to that one time that Wilson arrived on the set at 1pm for a 9am call time.

The big accusation thrown at Wilson is that she thinks she can handle it all by herself. “I think she has been emboldened because she thinks she’s going international,” Kuan says in the article.

Apparently, even that — hosting Asia’s Next Top Model — was coursed behind Kuan’s back but the talent manager let it slide because “she knew that the job would be good for her ward’s profile.”

Says Kuan: “Georgina’s talents are limited. She’s not an actress, she doesn’t sing. She was just lucky she got lumped with those other ‘It’ girls…and they’re all morphing into individuals now. She and (boyfriend) Borgy (Manotoc) can only be a cute couple for so long. If you asked me if Solenn would survive, I’d say yes because she can do so many things…with Georgina, I don’t know.”

According to the article, Wilson’s defense is that there’s no contract between her and Kuan. Kuan agrees, “but we had a verbal contract, which is legally binding.”

Girlie Rodis, one of the several people interviewed for the juicy story has the biggest point to make: “When a manager sits next to you over and over to sign multimillion-peso endorsement deals, that’s tacit agreement of your relationship as talent and manager. Now how can you say there was no contract?”

Yikes! Sounds like Wilson is going up against the wrong people.
