Not a lot of people liked the way Toni Gonzaga hosted the 2015 Bb. Pilipinas coronation night on March 15, 2015.
Although some people thought she was funny, cute and entertaining, there were those those who say she was over-confident, sarcastic and even rude to the contestants and judges.
Former beauty queen Nina Alagao shared this opinion on Facebook.
Fashion designer Cary Santiago pointed out that Toni’s comments were inappropriate and that she was “rude to the candidates whose nerves are shot already.”
The talent from Taytay, Rizal, finally addressed all the bashing, claiming she was asked to lighten things up during the three-hour-long competition.
At the press conference for her new film, You’re My Boss, where she stars with Coco Martin, she said, “To those who were not pleased… I’m humbly asking for an apology if I offended or I have maligned or I have hurt anyone of you, but it was never my intention.”
Perhaps she meant to give — not ask for — an apology?
She added, “I was instructed po to make it fun, light and ease the tension especially during the Q&A portion. Again, it was instructed to me to host that way, to make it lively and fun.”
She also thanked friends and family and fans who said good things about her and defended her. “In the spirit of beauty pageants, let’s end this issue with world peace,” she said.
