Enter the world of Spanish cinema

Instituto Cervantes de Manila is once again holding its annual Película-Pelíkula Spanish Film Festival, and this year, it’s happening from Oct. 4 – 20.

A diverse line-up of Spanish-language films including comedies, dramas, and documentaries will be screened in three venues in Makati, Quezon City, and Manila.

Tickets for the festival are priced at PHP100 (US$1.84).

Treat yo’self to the soothing sounds of Sam Smith’s soulful voice, live

Venue: Mall of Asia Arena, Seaside Blvd., Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City

Grammy Award-winning singer Sam Smith’s velvety voice is soothing to listen to while driving around Metro Manila’s traffic — but it’s even better live. He’ll be in the city for a concert at the Mall of Asia Arena this Friday, so fans can hear him for themselves.

The show is part of his The Thrill of it All World Tour and tickets cost anywhere from PHP2,120 (US$39.10) to PHP7,600 (US$140.16).

Drink your way through France (without leaving Manila)

Date: Oct. 6, Saturday
Venue: Wine Story, Level 1, Shangri-la Plaza, EDSA, Mandaluyong City

Those who want to graduate from being winos to full-fledged vino connoisseurs can get started with this class to be offered at Wine Story this Saturday.

Tour de France is an introductory class on French wines that will have participants sample bottles from Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne, Loire, Rhone, Alsace alongside cheese and charcuterie.

The class will be from 3pm – 5pm and costs PHP2,500 (US$46.11).

Head south and spice up your life

Venue: Tas Roofdeck, 31 Aguirre St., BF Homes, Paranaque City

About to heat things up in the south of the metro is South Sweats, a weekend pop-up market that will offer hot sauces, cured meats, soft cheeses, and craft beers — all hot and spicy —  by artisans from Metro Manila’s southern neighborhoods.

It will be held at Tas Roofdeck, which is located in popular Parañaque eat street Aguirre in BF Homes.

Eat your heart out in an outdoor food market

Date: Oct. 7, Sunday
Venue: Paseo de Roxas, Makati City

Food night market Mercato Centrale is usually found along Bonifacio Global City’s 7th Ave, but this weekend, it’ll make an appearance in Makati’s Paseo de Roxas for the Fest of The Best food event.

Like always, booths will comprise of artisans and innovative food sellers whose offerings aren’t just ‘grammable but, way more importantly, satisfying too.

It’ll be held from 4pm – 10pm, fit for a Sunday merienda or dinner with the family.
