Filipino fans of American music duo The Chainsmokers are probably feeling pretty let down now that their Manila concert initially scheduled for August has been canceled.
The announcement was made by event organizer MMI Live on Facebook earlier today.
“Live Nation, MMI Live and The Chainsmokers regret to announce that due to unforeseen production circumstances, World War Joy Asia Tour in Manila on August 15, 2019 at the Mall of Asia Arena is cancelled,” the statement reads.

The Chainsmokers were scheduled to perform in Manila on Aug. 15, Thursday as part of their World War Joy Asia tour.
MMI did not provide any more information about why the concert won’t be pushing through but some netizens noted that the tickets were too expensive.
Tickets to the show were priced between PHP1,990 (US$38.18) for general admission to PHP9,000 (US$172.67) for VIP standing passes. VIP tables for five people were priced at PHP50,ooo (US$959.26).
The Grammy award-winning pair made up of Alexander “Alex” Pall and Andrew “Drew” Taggart previously performed in Manila in 2017 and 2014.
They are known for their collaborations with other artists including Don’t Let Me Down with Daya, Closer with Halsey, Something Just Like This with Coldplay, and Roses with Rozes. While they’ve received multiple awards and topped music charts, The Chainsmokers have also been linked to controversy accusing them of being sexist and racist.
