Reel and real-life couple James Reid and Nadine Lustre are the subject of an online article published on Teen Vogue on Mon, Aug 1.
The article — titled “James Reid and Nadine Lustre Are the Filipino Love Team You Need to Know” and written by Isis Briones — shares the couple’s love story from onscreen partners to lovers in real life.

“The first time we got paired together was for his music video,” Nadine tells Teen Vogue.
“She was the girl I picked, it was just instinct,” James added.
The article does not reveal anything new about the popular love team. But it does share some insight on why love teams are a big deal in the Philippines.

Briones surmises that the entertainment industry’s idea of love teams is influenced by the country’s Catholic concept of monogamy.
In turn, local love teams shape the people’s outlook on love.
“Much more so than movies produced in the west, Filipino cinema often makes the idea of true love the norm. The depictions of romance are often conservative and there is rarely kissing or allusions to sex on-screen. Love teams actually play a crucial part with the Philippines’ cultural monogamy as the dream is to ship actors for as long as possible,” Briones writes.
Briones added that seeing two people team up in various projects over and over again “instills the hope that there really is one perfect person out there for everyone.”
We’re not sure why James and Nadine got featured on Teen Vogue, but the article is an interesting read whether you’re a JaDine fan or not. Read the article here.
