Filipino delegates at this year’s World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) waved the Philippine flag with pride once again as they bagged top honorsin the annual event.
Held in Long Beach, California, the event saw Kapamilya dance child wonder Nhikzy Calma win as WCOPA 2017 Junior Grand Champion of the World. He also received a gold medal for being the junior grand winner of the dance division.
In an Instagram post, Calma said he is dedicating his victory to all the Filipinos around the world.
“Salamat po sa inyong lahat sa tiwala at supporta na binigay nyo sakin at sa lahat po ng tumulong at sumuporta po [sa’kin] para maabot ko po itong napakagandang pangarap,” he wrote.

He likewise shared clips of his winning moment which show him crying on stage after the announcement.
Calma shot to fame after winning an “It’s Showtime” segment as “Mini Michael Jackson.” He has since appeared in a number of other shows, including the hit primetime series “On the Wings of Love.”
Aside from Calma, Team Philippines’ Cristiani Rebada also won as WCOPA 2017 Senior Grand Champion of the World.
Another contestant from Team Philippines, Hannah Castillo, also emerged victorious, bringing home a gold medal as the Junior Champion Vocalist of the World.
