A big change has happened in the local beauty pageant scene.
According to a Philippine Daily Inquirer report on Sun, Jan 15, Cory Quirino has let go of the Philippine franchise for the Miss World pageant.
The report said Quirino let go of the Miss World Philippines license for “personal and business reasons.”
Following the report, talent manager Arnold Vegafria announced on his social media account that he now owns the franchise for Miss World in the Philippines.
“We will forward to discovering and mentoring a new breed of filipina beauties who, just like Miss World 2013 Megan Young, will perpetuate the noble legacy of Miss World Organization’s guiding principle, ‘Beauty With A Purpose’,” he wrote.
Arnold is the talent manager of Megan Young, Miss World 2013 winner.
This is the second time the Miss World Philippines franchise has changed owners in recent years. Quirino received the pageant franchise in 2011, which was previously held by the Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. (the company responsible for sending representatives to the Miss Universe and Miss International pageants, among others).
It is under Quirino’s ownership that the Philippines won its first Miss World title.
Hopefully, the Philippines wins its second Miss World title under Vegafria, especially after Catriona Gray’s spectacular performance in the 2016 pageant last Dec.
