We haven’t really confirmed it yet but it looks like the rap song “Lakas” by Fil-Am rapper and producer Sevenes is the first-ever Tagalog rap ever featured in a US TV show. In the NCIS: Los Angeles episode entitled “Tuhon” shown last Feb. 25, there’s a scene where stars Chris O’Donnell and LL Cool J enter a bar playing “Lakas.” The song gets played for almost a whole minute, its Tagalog lyrics heard loud and clear.
So who is Sevenes? He’s a rapper based in the US but he was part of MYX last year, his video for the song “Unos” (together with fellow HI-FAN Records artist Nica del Rosario) shown there. His video for “U Know I Got That” also appeared in MYX USA and MTV Asia in 2007 while he also released a mixtape called Lakas in 2011. A follow-up called Lakas Part 2 is also in the works.
