Survival expert dumped in secluded Palawan beach for TV show

Our very own Palawan will be featured in a Discovery Channel show — but in an entirely different light.

Adventurer and survivalist Ed Stafford shot an episode for the second season of his Discovery Channel series Marooned in Coron, Palawan.

Marooned features Stafford left to fend for himself in extreme environments, equipped with only an emergency phone, medical kit, and a camera.

An episode of the show’s second season was shot in Coron Island, which will show him attempting to survive on a secluded beach.

The description for the episode reads: “The seashore is covered in litter, potentially useful for survival but a depressing reminder of the state of our seas… When he gets seriously ill, he starts to struggle with ghosts from the past.”

Not exactly the Palawan vacation we’ve always wanted to have.

Other places featured in the second season of Marooned include Norway and Argentine Patagonia.

In an interview with the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Stafford described Coron as “an amazing place.”

“Finding fresh water was a big challenge. I lived off [of] coconut water for about the next four days and eventually, I found a swamp in the rock that had stagnant rain water. I made a filter using sand, charcoal and organic matter. I filtered that water and boiled it,” he said of his experience.

We can’t wait to see it! The said episode will air on Tue, Aug 30.
