Fans of Henry Cavill, the British actor best known for playing Superman, will no doubt be thrilled to learn that he will be in Manila on Dec. 12 to promote his new Netflix Original show “The Witcher,” the global streaming giant announced today.
A statement sent to Coconuts Manila said that Cavill will meet fans at the Ayala Malls Manila Bay in Parañaque City from 5pm onwards. The venue will also have a special “Witcher” photo zone, which will be available for fans’ selfie-snapping use from Dec. 10 to 13.
Based on a series of fantasy novels and short stories by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski, “The Witcher” is about Geralt of Rivia (Cavill), a monster hunter who wanders a vast world called “the Continent” where various creatures battle it out to survive. The first season of the show will stream on Netflix on Dec. 20, and the second season will be shot early next year in London.
The show also stars Anya Chalotra, Freya Allan, Jodhi May, and Björn Hlynur Haraldsson. Showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich will also be visiting Manila along with Cavill.
Prior to taking up the cape of DC Movies’ Superman, Cavill was known for the hit television series “The Tudors,” in which he played the role of Charles Brandon, the real-life first Duke of Suffolk. Next year he will appear in the movie Enola Holmes alongside Helena Bonham Carter.
