SM Megamall brings back ice skating rink

Rejoice, ice skating fans!

“After a seven-year absence, the SM Group has decided to bring back the skating rink at SM Megamall,” reports Doris C. Dumlao in the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

The Olympic-sized ice skating rink is located in the fifth floor of the mall’s Building D.

This time around, the skating rink will also focus on “short-track speed skating” in addition to figure skating and ice hockey.

According to the report, “This is seen in line with the vision of founder Sy, who has fallen in love with ice skating during his overseas trips, to give Filipinos a chance to skate on ice despite the limitations of a tropical setting.” (Uh…OK, Mr. Sy.)

On weekdays, you pay PHP300 for some skating time, on weekends you shell out PHP390. Unless the report is mistaken, the fees are said to cover “unlimited daily use.”
