Vladimir “Jamir” Garcia, the vocalist of rock band Slapshock, has passed away. He was 42.

His aunt found his lifeless body inside his Quezon City home a few minutes after 9:00 am today, the police told GMA News Online. He was brought to Metro North Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

The authorities will investigate the cause of his death. Tributes quickly poured in on Twitter, where actor Paulo Avelino wrote, “RIP, Jamir.”

Musician Monty Macalino said, “Live forever, Jamir Garcia.”

“We need to appreciate our musicians now more than ever, especially this time where live music doesn’t exist and can’t guide our hearts to find the right beat. Live forever, Jamir,” photographer Niña Sandejas tweeted.

Founded in 1997, heavy metal band Slapshock popularized the songs “Cariño Brutal,” “Anino Mo” (“Your Shadow”), and “Agent Orange.”
