Perhaps feeling the heat from netizens over the weekend, Filipino singer Yeng Constantino yesterday apologized for her controversial rant against a doctor in Siargao island whom she initially accused of not attending to her injured husband properly.
Constantino published her complaints against the staff of Dapa Siargao Hospital in a scathing post on Facebook and a vlog on YouTube last week.
In them, she zeroed in on the OIC Chief of Hospital of Siargao District Hospital who she alleged acted without concern and urgency while attending to her husband who hit his head while cliff diving in Sugba Lagoon. She posted a photo of the doctor and mentioned her full name, which many people — especially those in the medical field — took offense with.
Both the Facebook post and vlog went viral, with many calling the singer out for “doctor-shaming,” but they have since been taken down.
“It was unfair to call her (doctor) out on social media and I’m taking down the posts and the vlog immediately,” Constantino said in her post yesterday.

She apologized to the medical staff and the doctor she complained about and said sorry for “the hurt that my post and vlog has (sic) caused them.”
The singer also asked for forgiveness from healthcare professionals who were affected by what she said.
“There is no excuse. I will do my best to be more responsible next time,” she said.
Constantino said that her rants were brought by the intense emotions she felt while her husband’s life was in danger.
“After I spoke with people close to me, I realized I should have been more responsible in my posts,” she said in English and Filipino.
“Whatever concerns I had should have been coursed through the proper forum.”
