Our rapid-fire roundup of things happening in Philippine showbiz.
1. ROSE FOSTANES CAN’T SING PROFESSIONALLY IN ISRAEL
She might have won The X Factor Israel but she won’t be singing again — professionally, at least — in the land of the Jews because of her caregiver visa. “She can only work as a caregiver, according to the law,” explains a spokeswoman for Israel’s population and immigration authority to news wire agency Agence-France Press. Of course, she can sing, but not as a professional. Let’s see how passionate, concerned, and supportive Pinoys both in Israel and the Philippines will react to this.

That’s what he told Tapatan ni Tunying recently, emphasizing how he wants to focus on movies; TV is not worth it because it doesn’t pay well. He added that the older the actor gets, the smaller his talent fee gets. This is the reason why he’s been producing his own stuff recently. (Photo from www.instagram.com/marieltpadilla)

The Carlos Palanca awardee, musician and respected writer penned an open letter for the Eat Bulaga! host on Spot.ph last Jan 3 where he said that while he’s a fan of the comedian’s earlier works, he was disappointed with Bossing’s latest movie. Lourd also said that it seemed like the movie was rushed, and criticized the several product placements throughout the movie. Vic hasn’t read the open letter, but shared with Pep.ph that his girlfriend Pauleen Luna was able to do so, and took offense. While Vic said that it would have been nice if the letter was directly sent to him, he is actually open to criticisms, and respects Lourd’s opinion. (Photo from www.instagram.com/pauleenluna)

5. IT’S SHOWTIME DEBUTS NEW SEGMENT FOR GAY MEN

What to do next after a successful contest for lesbians? One for gay men! But doesn’t Eat Bulaga! have that already? Well, this new segment of the ABS-CBN noontime show, “I am PoGay”, is for “good-looking gay men.” LOL how they worded it, but maybe what they mean is straight-acting, straight-looking gay men. As in NOT Super Sireyna. Exciting.
