Our rapid-fire roundup of things happening in Philippine showbiz.

1. GMA STARS APPEAR ON ABS-CBN SHOWS

Yesterday, GMA 7 star Marian Rivera appeared on ABS-CBN’s talk show The Buzz to promote her latest film Kung Fu Divas together with Ai-Ai de las Alas. Later that night, it was Richard Gutierrez, who is taking a break from showbiz, who appeared on another ABS-CBN show, Gandang Gabi Vice. Very interesting, don’t you think? Won’t it be wonderful is stars could just do shows in all channels so those so-called network wars would stop?

2. CHARICE’S FAMILY A NO-SHOW IN CONCERT

It looks like Mommy Racquel and the rest of the Pempengcos still haven’t fully accepted Charice because during her concert with fellow lesbian Aiza Seguerra called Charice and Aiza: The Power of Two (The Unbreakable Tour) last Sept. 28 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, they were a no-show. She said, “The word family ends with I-L—Y, which means I love you. I wish my family was here tonight but we are in a transition to become more accepting of each other. Pinapaalala ko sa sarili ko, ‘Charice, maghintay ka lang.’” Good thing Alyssa Quijano, her girlfriend for a year now, was there to support her. Alyssa even joined Charice for the song “How Could An Angel Break My Heart.”

3. LAUREN DOESN’T WANT TO BE A BEAUTY QUEEN LIKE SISTER MEGAN

[[{“type”:”media”,”view_mode”:”media_original”,”fid”:”21836″,”attributes”:{“alt”:””,”class”:”media-image”,”height”:”600″,”typeof”:”foaf:Image”,”width”:”600″}}]]

After Megan Young’s coronation as Miss World 2013, a lot of people are wondering whether her younger sister Lauren has plans of following her footsteps. Lauren, after all, is also talented and beautiful like her sister. But the 19-year old has no plans of joining any beauty pageant – as of now, that is. She told Interaksyon: It’s really not the right time yet for me to even think about it. I just want to focus first on acting. I want to stretch my acting career as much as possible, and I don’t want to move on and do something else in my life unless I have already proven myself as an actress.” And it looks like her acting career is going great so far. After appearing in the GMA 7 show Mundo Mo’y Akin, she is now doing the Sunday show Dormitoryo. She is also part of the Cine Filipino entry Puti.

4. MITOY WINS THE VOICE PH

Congratulations to 42-year old Mitoy Yonting for being named the first ever winner of The Voice of the Philippines last night, Sept. 29. Lea Salonga’s protégé went home with PHP2 million, a brand new car, an Asian tour package for two, plus a four-year recording contract with MCA Universal. Runner-up was Klarisse de Guzman of Team Sarah Geronimo. The show was so successful ABS-CBN has announced that auditions for season 2 will start really, really soon.

5. KLARISSE IS FINE WITH PLACING SECOND

Klarisse de Guzman of Team Sarah almost won – but didn’t. Right after the show, she told ABS-CBN News that she’s happy and content placing second because during the start, her only wish was to be part of the show. “Sobrang thankful na ako sa naabot ko,” she said.

Alam ko deserving naman siya. Kuya Mitoy, balato. See you sa States,” she said about the first-ever winner of The Voice of the Philippines.
