Our rapid-fire roundup of things happening in Philippine showbiz.
1. ANGEL DONATES A CAR FOR TYPHOON YOLANDA
Local celebs have been doing all sorts of stuff to help out the victims of Yolanda, from donating cash to participating in telethons. Angel Locsin is giving up something pretty interesting: her 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle. She told Pep.ph that she is surrendering her car to Sagip Kapamilya, telling them, “Sa inyo na ito. Kung ano’ng maging plano niyo, okay ako.” (Photo: @therealangellocsin Instagram account)

Congrats to all the Pinoy nominees at the Asian TV Awards this year! They are Marian Rivera (Temptation of Wife) and Lorna Tolentino (Pahiram ng Sandali) for Best Actress in a Leading Role, Kris Aquino (Kris TV) for best Entertainment Presenter/Host, Michael V (Bubble Gang) for best Comedy Performance by an Actor/Actress, 24 Oras and Saksi for Best News Programme, Reporter’s Notebook for Best Current Affairs Programme, Born Impact: When Whales Strand for Best Natural History of Wildlife Programme, and The X Factor Philippines for Best Reality Show. 3. MARIAN IS GINEBRA’S NEW CALENDAR GIRL

It was in 2009 when Marian Rivera first agreed to be the calendar girl of Ginebra. Now she’s back. While her clothes and poses were pretty conservative back then, they sure are not anymore in the brand’s 2014 calendar. Just look at the photo above. Ginebra went all out for the calendar, getting big names like Mark Nicdao to take the photos and Liz Uy to take care of the styling. They even flew to Boracay, Batangas, and Palawan for the shoot.
4. NO COMPETITION BETWEEN RYZZA MAE DIZON AND JILLIAN WARD
[[{“type”:”media”,”view_mode”:”media_original”,”fid”:”29184″,”attributes”:{“alt”:””,”class”:”media-image”,”height”:”600″,”typeof”:”foaf:Image”,”width”:”600″}}]]
Ryzza Mae and Jillian are both child stars from GMA 7. It’s interesting to note that they are both eight years old, too. Naturally, people are pitting them against each other. But if you ask Jillian, who is four months older than Ryzza, there’s no competition. In fact she considers the Eat Bulaga! baby her little sister. She shared with Pep.ph that they get to talk sometimes, like when they talked about their experiences as contestants of Eat Bulaga!’s Little Miss Philippines contest. Jillian lost in 2009 while Ryzza won in 2012. Both are doing goo, actually; Jillian has a show called One Day Isang Araw (which is ending this Saturday) while Ryzza has Eat Bulaga!, Vampire ang Daddy Ko, and The Ryzza Mae Show.
5. KC DONATES PHP5 MILLION
[[{“type”:”media”,”view_mode”:”media_original”,”fid”:”29193″,”attributes”:{“alt”:””,”class”:”media-image”,”height”:”600″,”typeof”:”foaf:Image”,”width”:”600″}}]]
Kris Aquino announced last Nov. 13 that KC Concepcion just donated PHP5 million for Yolanda victims. To be specific, “three million for the immediate Yolanda efforts and the other two million for whatever rebuilding will occur,” said Kris. Kris added that she salutes KC’s act of generosity especially because it wasn’t KC’s decision to let others know about it; it was Kris who announced it, but with KC’s permission, of course. Remember how KC’s mom, Sharon Cuneta, pledged to donate PHP10 million last Nov. 10, for the Aboitiz Foundation of the Aboitiz Group and Alagang Kapatid Foundation of TV5? Generosity sure runs in the family. (Photo: @xtina_ontherocks Instagram account)
