MANILA – Sharon Cuneta admitted that she became too complacent and lazy at one point in her life that she took her career and her fans for granted.

Cuneta revealed this during her one-on-one interview on “The Buzz” after signing a contract with the Kapamilya network last week.

“I was too content so my career took a backseat because feeling ko nandiyan lang siya. It was really guilt over letting my Sharonians down. They were supporting even when they had nothing to support,” she said.

Cuneta said she felt too happy with her family life that she neglected her responsibilities to her supporters.

“You were letting them down because you knew that in order to become a leading lady again, you had to lose weight. I was dying to release my creative juices, my acting chops and all. I couldn’t do it because I was very limited. I had to make do with what was available and it was my fault too,” she said.

“You know, you get to a point when you keep trying and trying. I think I became too complacent. I became very lazy I couldn’t even get to a point of pushing myself to lose weight because I was too complacent,” she added.

Hoping to make it up to her fans, Cuneta said she is very grateful that ABS-CBN gave her the opportunity to act or be in front of the television again.

“Mas ina-appreciate ko na ulit lahat ng dumating na grasya. Alam mo nung wala ako [sa ABS-CBN], I don’t want to talk about other people — ako lang ito. Sabi ko nga your feet may leave home but your heart stays. Before nasa kalye ako, naalala ko tapos may nakita akong van ng ABS-CBN. Ang sakit sakit sa puso ko. Kasi I didn’t feel like I belonged anywhere else,” she said.

Now that she is back to her “home,” Cuneta said: “This is love. This is family. Like I said, I can breathe again. I’m this little fish back in my ocean.”
