They cried, we learned. Here are our takeaways from celebrity heartbreaks of 2016. Here’s to hoping that the year ahead will be sweeter for all of us!
1. From Tricia Centenara and Gab Valenciano: You can’t force anyone to be in a marriage.
It takes two to tango, so if one isn’t fully committed to a relationship, then it probably won’t work. Tricia said that Gab “just didn’t want to be in a marriage.” The couple called it quits last Sept. Infidelity and money problems reportedly caused their split.

2. From Sunshine Dizon: Taking care of yourself is the best revenge
A month after her separation from her husband, Sunshine Dizon shocked her fans and haters with a slimmer and sexier body. The split caused her to spend more time taking care of her gorgeous self! Sunshine now looks healthier, fitter and happier. She is focusing on her kids and career.

3. From John Lloyd Cruz and Angelica Panginiban: Exes can be friends
John Lloyd called Angelica “his best friend for life” in spite of their breakup. How is that possible? We really don’t know. The two have remained single since they called off their relationship earlier this year. They’ve been spotted together several times, but they vehemently denied rumors that they are back together.

4. From ZsaZsa Padilla and Conrad Onglao: A second chance is possible
A chance meeting made them reconsider. The singer and architect were supposed to get married this year, but they broke up. Fortunately, they eventually got back together thanks to a serendipitous encouter at Makati City Hall. Perhaps it’s true that love is indeed sweeter the second time around.

5. From Donita Rose: But sometimes, we really just have to ‘burn the pictures’ (and bridges) to move on
Sometimes, the easiest way to pick yourself up after a broken relationship is to just move and without looking back. After 12 years, Donita Rose and her husband ended their marriage. Donita revealed that “character flaws” and “character issues” caused the separation. Her advise for those in a similat situation? “Don’t look back anymore. Burn the pictures.”
