In PEP Talk — the Web-based talk show of the entertainment site PEP — Senate aspirant Mark Lapid talked about his plans for the country if ever elected this coming May 2016 elections.
Lapid was asked about his stand on several issues that have been “hot topics” lately. At the 22:00 mark of the video, Lapid clarifies that he is also pro-divorce and pro-same-sex marriage.
Lapid, who is running for senator under the Liberal Party (LP), explained that while he is Catholic, being a public servant means he has to serve everyone. He said that he is well-aware of the Church’s doctrine not to allow same-sex marriage and he is not forcing the issue about religion. He said he is supporting the LGBT community’s clamor for legal regcognition.
He explained, “It’s about time we give the LGBT community the respect that they need and we need to recognize and protect them under the law.”
