This is not a “beautiful” thing. (If you miss the One Direction reference, it’s OK.)
“Scalpers went online to sell tickets for the concert of British boy band One Direction at prices higher by at least 300 percent, just hours after thousands lined up at various SM ticketing centers on Friday, May 24, for the March 2015 event,” reports Janvic Mateo in The Philippine Star.
The report cited the prices being quoted by scalpers in various online selling sites:
1. General Admission tickets that originally cost PHP1,150 for PHP4,000
2. Silver tickets priced at PHP2,220 for PHP8,000
3. Gold tickets that cost PHP3,375 each for as high as PHP10,000
4. Titanium tickets that went for PHP7,450 at PHP12,000
5. Diamond tickets that cost PHP14,800 for PHP24,000 The report noted: “The Philippines has no national law prohibiting scalping, generally defined as the mass purchase and resell of tickets at more expensive prices.”
