Social media slammed actress, host and YouTube star Alex Gonzaga after a 12-second video of her blowing out the candles on her birthday cake — and proceeding to smear the frosting on a server’s face — went viral recently.
While no one from Gonzaga’s camp or even those present at her party have issued statements as of this article’s publication, several people who have supposedly worked with the star in various projects have come forward with claims that suggest the frosting incident is far from being an isolated case.
Twitter user John Mark Yap, who works as a stage manager and social media manager, claimed that he worked with the actress previously.
“As someone who has worked directly with this woman for her first film as a lead, I can personally say that this woman really has a bad attitude! [She’s] always the cause of delay in shooting. Almost everyone on set hated her. She was just nice to me because I had a high position [on set],” he wrote.
While he did not name the movie, he is credited on IMDb as social media manager for the 2016 film My Rebound Girl, which starred Gonzaga as the lead.
Yap also claimed that the actress was unkind to actor Reb Atadero on set, back when he had a small scene in the same film.
“She was even very rude to @rebranger who did a small role in that film when they were at the tent! I’ll let Reb tell that story but I swear, she really has a bad attitude and everyone on set saw/experienced it,” he wrote.
The actor seemed to confirm Yap’s account, writing: “Short version: If you’re not a big-name star, she won’t even think of giving you basic respect. Even if you have a scene together, once the camera is not on her and she’s done throwing her lines, she will drop you and leave you hanging even before they yell ‘CUT’.”
PR executive KL Carpio also claimed to have worked with Gonzaga twice as a production designer, and said that he was at the receiving end of her rude and nasty behavior.
“So I’ve worked with the Gonzaga sisters twice already as a Production Designer. Rumors about Alex Gonzaga [are] real. She’s rude,” he wrote on Twitter.
He shared that Alex and her sister Toni walked on the set for a shoot they were doing together. Alex called his attention by hissing at him and asked him to hand her bag “like I was [her] assistant. I have an assistant but I never ask for help like that,” he said.
He recounted that he ignored her requests to hand her bag until she snapped, “Hoy kuya (Hey man), I asked you to hand my bag. Don’t you hear me?”
“Almost everyone heard it including the big client,” he said. When one of the art directors supposedly informed Gonzaga that he was the set’s production designer, she proceeded to snub him.
