On the Jul 8 episode of Tonight with Boy Abunda, veteran actor and director Ricky Davao promoted his upcoming Star Cinema movie Dukot, but he also opened up about his daughter’s recent confession.
Davao shared that his eldest daughter with actress Jackie Lou Blanco, Rikki Mae, admitted to him that she’s a lesbian.
Like many parents in the same situation, Davao was surprised. “First time niyang binanggit sa akin ito, nagulat ako. Hindi ako nagalit pero nagulat ako kasi sabi ko gusto ko magkaroon ng apo sa ‘yo,” he said.
However, his own desires of being a grandfather didn’t stop him from respecting his daughter.
“Bottomline: it’s respect. It’s I love you, kung ano man ang gusto mo, gawin mo. I will support you. Iyon lang, magulang ka,” Davao explained. “So ngayon, I’m very supportive kung ano man ang gusto niyang gawin.”
Davao added that this new chapter in their lives is also a learning process for him, but he feels he is now closer to his daughter.
