Whether you’re ready for it or not, it looks like a Filipino version of the film Ocean’s Eleven is in the works.

In an article published by The Philippine Daily Inquirer today, actor Albert Martinez said that he is currently developing a project inspired by the American heist film.

According to Martinez, he plans to set the film in the Mindanao Island city Cagayan de Oro and Moscow, Russia.

“It’s like 1980s Brat Pack meets millennial stars,” he told Inquirer. And based on the cast he’s trying to bring together, it looks that’s exactly what it’s going to be.

Aside from Martinez, some of the biggest local icons of the ’80s are said to join the project. This includes his brother William Martinez, Richard Gomez, Aga Muhlach, Gabby Concepcion, and Sharon Cuneta.

If this project were to push through, it will also act as a reunion film for Cuneta and three of her onscreen partners: Gomez, Muhlach, and Concepcion.

The cast of younger actors that will join the film is a little less certain but Coco Martin, Piolo Pascual, and Arjo Atayde are being considered for roles.

The film has no production or release date yet, so it might take a while before we see it on the big screen.

“…It’s the script that’s holding it down. We want to make sure that each actor in the film would have equal screen impact,” Martinez said. Apart from starring in it, the actor also plans to be the film’s creative director and line producer.

According to a report on The Philippine Star, Negros Occidental Congressman Albee Benitez will be one of the film’s producers.

The original Ocean’s Eleven came out in 1960 and starred Rat Pack members Peter Lawford, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr., and Joey Bishop.

The 2001 remake also starred an ensemble cast including George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, and Julia Roberts.

Another reboot titled Ocean‘s 8 is set to premiere in June and will feature a cast of mostly women including Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, and Anne Hathaway.
