Sad: Trixie Maristela’s account of that night Valkyrie denied her entrance to the club

Trixie Maristela is the friend of fashion designer Veejay Floresca, who, despite being with her boyfriend, was denied entrance to Valkyrie because she didn’t have an ID that confirmed she was female.

She posted the photo of her #OOTD that night she was denied entrance to the club and asked in Filipino, is my outfit inappropriate?

If we got Valkyrie’s reasoning right, what Trixie was wearing was inappropriate because she wasn’t wearing the dress code for males, that is: closed shoes, pants, and polo.

She narrates: “This lady security personnel told me that I am not dressed properly. So tinanong ko kung ano ang masama sa suot ko. Then bigla nyang tinuro sakin yung dress code policy na nakabalandra sa entrance and insisted that I should be wearing the proper attire for males. Closed shoes, pants and polo. I knew at that moment where the argument would lead to and the what they would say to harass me further.”

Apparently, this isn’t the first time Trixie has gone to Valkyrie but it is the first time she’s ever been denied entrance. When she asked if she’d be let in if she had a VIP table, they said yes. So she requested for one, but unfortunately, all tables were reserved. She ended up at The Palace Pool Club instead, where she couldn’t help but cry.

“It is absurd that they don’t allow trans individuals due to their problematic and stringent dress code policy, but that they can actually disregard these rules when money is thrown at them,” she writes.

“I am armed with knowledge in SOGIE and Transgender Theories which I studied masterfully in college. But even that became useless when all of that was happening. I felt powerless.”
