PPO’s new music director wants to make it one of Asia’s top 5

Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra’s incoming music director wants to make the Cultural Center of the Philippines’ resident orchestra one of the top five in Asia.

Yoshikazu Fukumura, former Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra music director, also praised the current team for possessing a higher quality and level than many orchestras in the region.

The search for PPO’s new music director began in April. Fukumura takes over from Maestro Olivier Ochanine, who was still involved with the PPO’s performance at New York’s Carnegie Hall on Jun 18.

Fukumura debuts in September at the opening of PPO’s 2016-2017 season.
