Now, this news is something people will sink their teeth into.
“President Noynoy Aquino will stand as best man for Sen. Chiz Escudero when the senator weds movie star Heart Evangelista,” reports Nancy C. Carvajal in Philippine Daily Inquirer.
Escudero explained, perhaps half-jokingly, “The President has agreed to be best man at my wedding, not a [principal] sponsor. He does not like to be a principal sponsor because of the superstition that a bachelor who stands as principal sponsor will never marry.”
The report noted: “Escudero said that he asked Aquino to be his best man at least two months ago, even before he proposed marriage to Evangelista last weekend.”
The report also added that “Escudero, 44, proposed to Evangelista, 29, last Saturday at a family dinner at the Escuderos’ hometown of Buhatan, Sorsogon province.”
As it turns out, the President is also godfather to Escudero’s two children from a previous marriage. Escudero’s first marriage was annulled in 2012.
