It’s like love at first sight!
Hollywood actress and singer Hailee Steinfeld said she feels right at home in the Philippines, despite being in the country for the first time.
The 19-year-old star, who has appeared in movies such as True Grit and Pitch Perfect 2, is currently in the country for a series of mall shows to promote her album, Haiz.
“I haven’t seen to much yet other than just driving around. I came in last night, it was pitch back outside. But I looked out the window the whole ride home and I was like, this really looks like a place I can come back in and vacation and spend time here,” she told Coconuts Manila and other members of the press during a press conference on Wed, Apr 6.
Hailee is actually part-Filipino. Her grandfather on her mother’s side is half-Filipino, and her great grandfather has roots in Bohol.
The “Love Myself” singer said she feels “so connected” to Pinoy culture.
“One thing I learned very early about Filipinos and being Filipino is how much passion there is and how much pride there is in being Filipino,” she said.
Not surprisingly, Hailee said her favorite Pinoy food is adobo. “Chicken adobo and rice!” she noted.
She promised to tell her Pitch Perfect 2 co-stars, which include Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson, about the Philippines. “I will now, now that I’ve been here. I have lots to talk about.”
