Piolo Pascual flies to Macau to receive international award

Congratulations are in order for Filipino actor Piolo Pascual.

He flew to Macau yesterday to attend the 2nd International Film Festival & Awards Macau where he will be recognized as one of the top rising stars in the region. The award, called “Variety Asian Stars: Up Next” will be presented by the film festival in partnership with entertainment trade magazine Variety.

The awards ceremony will be held today at the Macau Cultural Center.

The film festival, which started last Friday and is scheduled to end today, held screenings of international films like Call Me By Your NameI, Tonya, and Samui Song. 

It also had 10 films in competition from countries like Argentina, China, France, and Germany.

Eddie Peng – Taiwan

Rajkummar Rao – India

Ludi Lin – China

Shioli Kutsuna – Japan

Chutimon ‘Aokbab’ Chuengcharoensukying – Thailand

Ahn Seo-Hyeon – South Korea

Celina Jade – Hong Kong

Pascual is one of the most well-known television and movie actors in the Philippines. In October, he joined the ABS-CBN sitcom Home Sweetie Home after the show’s lead, John Lloyd Cruz, took a leave of absence.

Internationally, he is most know for his role in the film On the Job, which received a standing ovation at Cannes Film Festival in 2013.
