A Pinoy won big at the recent 68th Tony Awards held last Sunday, June 8. Iloilo native Jhett Tolentino is the man behind Joanjhett Productions and they co-produced A Gentlemen’s Guide to Love and Murder, and Denzel Washington’s A Raisin in the Sun. The former won four out of its 10 nominations – Best Musical, Best Costume, Best Direction, and Best Book of a Musical – while the latter won Best Revival of a Play.
Jhett and his Joanjhett Productions won two of those Tonys for co-producing the shows.
Trivia: Jhett is the third Pinoy to win a Tony; Lea Salonga won Best Lead Actress in a Musical while Robert Bobby Lopez won Best Original Score and Best Book in the past.
But it’s not the first time that Jhett has won a Tony; this is his third, according to ABS-CBN News.
