Pinay makes it to ‘The Voice Australia’

Don’t you just love it when someone Pinoy—full, half, part, etc—makes it to talent searches abroad?

The latest one is a pretty Sydney-based girl named Jhoanna Aguila, who sang Florence and the Machine’s version of “You’ve Got the Love” for the blind auditions of The Voice Australia.

First few notes and mentor Kylie Minogue was already impressed. Fellow mentors Joel Madden and Will.I.Am seemed to look very impressed, as well.

Right before the song ended, all three of them pressed the red button and turned their chairs around, with only mentor Ricky Martin not “wanting” her.

Will sold himself to her by saying that he has a lot of experience working with a lot of singers.

Kylie said she has experience being the singer and that while no one held her hand when she was starting, she wants to actually have the chance to hold someone’s hand this time coz she knows how important that is.

Joel explained that she should join his team because there is no one like her in his team so she would shine quite easily.

In the end, Jhoanna chose Will. Why not, when he knew early on that Jhoanna is Pinay?

He also said “Salamat” and boasted that his best friend Apl.de.ap is Pinoy. He also sang “Filipino, Filipino!”—from the Black Eyed Peas song “Bebot” and told her that he could introduce her to Apl—who knows the president of the Philippines.
