Getting a Madame Tussauds wax figure is a milestone for any celebrity and it turns out that Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach will be one of the lucky few to experience that as she will become the first Filipino to have a wax figure at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong.
She made the announcement on her Instagram page earlier today. “I have a big announcement! Starting early next year, I’ll be residing in Hong Kong!” she joked in her caption.
“Well, my wax figure will! So excited to be the first Filipino part of Madame Tussauds! What a birthday treat! Please visit me there. Will be waiting for you!” Wurtzbach said.
Wurtzbach’s wax figure is set to join the Madame Tussauds Hong Kong branch next year.
“When I found out, I was so excited. I couldn’t believe it! In my head, this is something only happens to big stars,” she said in a statement on Madame Tussauds Hong Kong website.
Other celebrity wax figures in Madame Tussauds Hong Kong include Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee, Michelle Yeoh, Brad Pitt, and Meryl Streep among others.
Looks like Wurtzbach will be in good company, then.
“It was really quite a process and it’s so high tech! One second they were only taking a photo of my face then next thing I know, I see my face from different angles so instantly. It’s amazing,” Wurtzbach said.
Madame Tussauds Hong Kong’s Instagram page also posted the announcement earlier today, welcoming the beauty queen into their collection of revered wax icons.
“Pia Wurtzbach [is] the first ever Filipino wax figure in @madametussaudshongkong!”
They said they added the beauty queen to their collections in honor of the many Filipinos living in Hong Kong.
“This is our way to showing the Filipino community living and visiting Hong Kong as well as our neighbor SEA cities that we heard them well,” Madame Tussauds General Manager Jenny You said in a statement.
Data from the Philippines’ Department of Foreign Affairs show that there are over 220,000 Filipinos residing in Hong Kong.
The beauty queen’s followers couldn’t help but get excited for her:
