2016 has been good to Pia Wurtzbach.

Now that her reign is about to end, Pia is starting to get sentimental about the night that changed her life forever.
“A year ago, I was blessed with this title. I know that most of you feel like the year has gone by so quickly but it’s actually the opposite for me. My year as Miss Universe felt longer than that,” she said in an Instagram post.
This year was filled with memories for a lifetime, she said.
Pia said that becoming Miss Universe is her “childhood dream,” but she added that it is also something bigger than that.
“I realized that there was something more to attain here than personal achievement. I wanted to proudly represent the Philippines and bring back home the crown,” she said.
On a separate post, she said that she is proud that she was able to showcase Filipino-made gowns in the pageant.
She wore a blue gown by Albert Andrada in the competition, and a red gown by Oliver Tolentino during the preliminary competition.
According to PEP.PH, Colombian designer Alfredo Barraza used to design the gowns of Philippine representatives to the MIss Universe competition.
The coronation night of the 65th Miss Universe Pageant will be held at the Mall of Asia Arena on Jan 30, 2017. Pre-pageant activities have started earlier this month.
