MANILA – Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach had the chance to talk to President Benigno Aquino III for a few minutes during a courtesy visit to Malacañang on Tue, Jan 26.
The Filipina beauty queen was asked about her conversation with Aquino, who was rumored to have dated her in the past, in a press conference held at the Palace.
“Well, he congratulated me and we talked about Miss Universe for a little bit,” she said. “Also, [he shared] what he’s been busy with lately and how he’s doing, [and I told him] how I’ve been doing.”
“I also congratulated him for a successful term,” she added. Aquino’s term will end this year.
When asked how she feels about seeing the President again, Wurtzbach replied: “It’s an honor to be in the presence of the President, of course especially now that I’m here as Miss Universe, bringing home the crown for the Filipino.”
Wurtzbach was first linked to the President in 2015, way before she competed in Miss Universe. She has repeatedly denied rumors that they were dating, saying that they are only friends.
Early this month, Wurtzbach admitted that it would be difficult for her to date Aquino due to her hectic schedule, especially after winning Miss Universe.
