Soon, Myanmar will get a taste of Eat Bulaga!, the longest-running noontime show in the Philippines.

This was announced during the variety show’s 40th-anniversary episode today and on its official social media accounts.

“First Big Announcement: There will be a new Eat Bulaga franchise! There will now be Eat Bulaga Myanmar!” a tweet from earlier this afternoon says in English and Filipino.

A post on Facebook, meanwhile, includes a photo of longtime hosts Vic Sotto and Joey de Leon with a representative from Eat Bulaga! Myanmar, Captain Aung Po.

Ngayon pati ang mga taga Myanmar ma-experience na ang isang libo’t isang tuwa! (Now even those from Myanmar will experience one thousand and one joys),” the photo’s caption reads, referencing a line from the show’s theme song.

Eat Bulaga! is a Filipino noontime variety show that currently airs on GMA Network from Monday to Saturday. It first aired in 1979 and continues to be very popular today. Comedians Tito Sotto (The current Philippine Senate president), his brother Vic, and de Leon were the hosts when it launched and continue to be part of the show today.

It is broadcast live with a studio audience and a typical episode consists of games, talent contests, and performances. More popular segments include Juan for All, All for Juan, wherein hosts visit villages all around the country to conduct games and contests with residents.

In 2015, the segment Kalyeserye (street series), a soap opera parody, also became a massive hit and launched the careers of actors Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza.

Not much is known yet about the Eat Bulaga! Myanmar but it is not the first international spin-off of the show. Eat Bulaga! Indonesia ran from 2012 to 2014 in the network SCTV and from 2014 to 2016 on antv.
