Noontime gameshows are popular in the Philippines, but one callout for contestants had some viewers raising eyebrows.
“Mga girls na may magandang legs. Magdala ng ID, birth certificate o anumang katibayan. Ihanda rin ang shorts at miniskirt,” the callout of afternoon game show Wowowin aired on GMA-7 read.
(‘Girls with nice legs. Bring and an ID, birth certificate, or any proof of identity. Prepare your shorts and miniskirt.’)
“No wonder why misogyny occurs in this country,” one netizen lamented.
The noontime show is hosted by Willie Revillame, who has been an entertainer and host since the 1980s.
This isn’t the first time Revillame has been in hot water for his game show antics.
Revillame was charged with child abuse in 2013 for a 2011 incident, when his show was aired on another station TV5, where a 6-year-old child was forced to perform “macho dancing moves” where he gave the child PHP10,000 (USD200) for repeating the moves.
He seems to have a thing for legs. Back in 2013, a post on the Wowowin Facebook page with the caption “sino ang pinakamagandang legs (who has the sexiest legs)?” with a photo of female co-hosts in miniskirts was posted.
To be fair, the theme of his show on Wednesday were male contestants with the “nicest abs”, where he had male contestants take off their shirts to show the audience.
What do you think? Misogyny or plain fun?
