PH bets all set for Miss Universe, Supranational, Intercontinental

Pageant organizer Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. held a sendoff ceremony for the country’s representatives to Miss Universe 2017, Miss Supranational 2017, and Miss Intercontinental 2017 yesterday.

The three beauty queens are already feeling the pressure, following the Philippines’ stellar performance in recent international pageants.

Karen Ibasco and Winwyn Marquez won Miss Earth 2017 and Reina Hispanoamericana 2017, respectively, over the weekend.

Nelda Ibe was named first runner-up in Miss Globe 2017, while Elizabeth Clenci finished second runner-up in Miss Grand International 2017.

“We’re gonna work even harder… Please pray for us so we can bring home the crowns,” said Chanel Thomas, who will represent the country in Miss Supranational 2017 in Poland on Dec. 1.

“They started a streak,” added Katarina Rodriguez, who will compete in Miss Intercontinental 2017 on Dec. 21 in Sri Lanka. “I’m the last to compete, but I’m looking forward to watching my fellow queens… It gets me really excited.”

Rachel Peters, who will fly to Las Vegas for the Miss Universe 2017 pageant on Nov. 26, for her part, said: “It makes me feel really proud that these girls have set the bar so high for us.”

“That makes me want to work harder and do even better than I imagine I could,” she added. “Thanks to these girls for motivating and inspiring us.”
