Ariska Putri Pertiwi of Indonesia was crowned the winner of the pageant.
Completing the top five are: Miss Puerto Rico Madison Anderson, Miss USA Michelle León, and Miss Thailand Supaporn Malisorn.
For the pageant’s speech portion, the 10 finalists were asked to give a speech on the theme “Stop the War and Violence,” the contest’s advocacy.
Nicole’s speech focused on how children should not “risk their lives for us” amid war and violence.
“I stand here tonight refusing to tell the same story to our next generation,” she said.
“Children should fight for their dreams, not for their lives.”
But her Q&A response elicited some boos from the audience in Las Vegas.
For the pageant’s top five question and answer portion, the finalists were asked who they would choose between US presidential candidates Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton to help them stop war and violence.
Surprisingly, Nicole chose Trump.
“Let Donald Trump switch to our side to stop the war on violence,” she said.
Miss USA also chose Trump; Miss Indonesia, Miss Thailand, and Miss Puerto Rico chose Clinton.
But despite not winning the crown, Nicole still did well. Last year, Philippine bet Parul Shah was named second runner-up.
Congratulations, Nicole!
