Singer Lea Salonga brushed off criticisms she is too opinionated on social media and even said she doesn’t mind being labeled a “Patola Queen”.

“When someone says something obviously wrong, you have to stand up for yourself also,” Lea said in an interview with Philippine Star at a press conference for The Voice Kids Top 6.

“There are things na hindi ko na papatulan because it’s a waste of time. But if there’s someone attacking something I feel strongly about, then oo, papatulan talaga kita,” Lea added.

Lea, an international force when it comes to singing, has 2.98 million followers on Twitter. On Instagram, she has more than 369,000 followers.

Lea, who said she’s actually very discerning about people she will answer online, revealed she immediately blocks users who are very rude.

“When it gets super-super bastos, they don’t even get an answer. They just get blocked,” Lea explained.

Lea admits she likes being vocal on certain issues so she keeps her social media account active. She also sees it as a way to support the members of FamiLEA.

“I look at how many Twitter followers I have and, I figured, even a small percentage of this gets to vote and watches the show and supports these kids,” Lea said.

The semi-final of The Voice Kids 2 is a two-part special airing on Aug 22 and 23, on ABS-CBN.
