On It’s Showtime Tuesday, the mother of Angelica Yap, also known as “Pastillas Girl”, slammed her daughter’s critics, especially those who are claiming she’s being exploited on national TV.

The guesting comes amid a letter from the Gabriela Women’s Party asking the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) to look into reports It’s Showtime could be exploiting the situation of “Pastillas Girl“.

Only referred to as “Mommy Pastillas”, Angelica’s mom turned emotional on national TV as she said she felt hurt to find out about the negative comments on social media.

“Hindi naman nila kilala ang anak ko. Ayaw ko na kung sinu-sinong tao lang ang lalait sa anak ko,” she said. “Sobra akong nasasaktan. Sana ‘yung mga taong humuhusga sa anak ko, tignan muna nila ang sarili nila. Wala namang perpekto,” she tells Vice Ganda on It’s Showtime.

“Mommy Pastillas” also assured the public her daughter is not being pimped out, adding she could never do that to one of her own. Gabriela, however, refused to dismiss the complaints from concerned citizens, who felt the show seemed “to be pimping… Pastillas Girl to various interested men”.

“Ako nakasuporta lang ako sa kanya. Nasa kanya ang decision, kung ano ang pasya niya, doon lang din ako. Pero ako, ‘yung sinasabi nila na binubugaw ko ‘yung anak ko, hindi nila alam kung gaano ko kamahal ‘yung anak ko… Hindi ko kayang gawin ‘yun,” she said.

“Pastillas Girl” shot to fame after releasing a video tutorial on Sep. 9  demonstrating how to make the famous Pinoy dessert. Two days later, she made her first appearance in the Kapamilya noontime show, and has been participating in a segment in search for “Mr. Pastillas”.

So far, more than three men are vying for her attention.

Pastillas Girl is seen as It’s Showtime’s answer to Eat Bulaga’s AlDub. According to some companies, Angelica’s segment did bring up the Kapamilya show’s ratings, but it was still not enough to beat the Dabarkads in the ratings game, even with the support of the biggest ABS-CBN loveteams.
