Angelica Jane Yap, better known as the “Pastillas Girl” on It’s Showtime!, is overwhelmed by her rapid rise to fame. And while the 21-year-old is finding ways to deal with it, she did not expect the amount of vitriol she is currently receiving from social media.

On It’s Showtime’s Sep 17 episode, Angelica broke her silence on the online bashing, and got emotional on the set. The statement comes as her “Twitterserye” is being compared to Eat Bulaga’s “Kalyeserye”.

“Sa totoo lang, bago sa akin itong lahat. Totoong tao ako, lahat ng nakikita niyo ay totoo,” she opened up.

“Hindi po ako artista. Bago po ito lahat sa akin. Sana kilalanin niyo muna ako bago niyo ako i-judge. Lahat ng tanong niyo kaya kong sagutin, binuksan ko po ‘yong buhay ko para po dito,” Angelica added.

“Pastillas Girl” shot to fame after releasing a video tutorial on Sep 9  demonstrating how to make the famous Pinoy dessert. Two days later, she made her first appearance in the Kapamilya show, and has been participating in a segment in search for “Mr. Pastillas”.

So far, three men are vying for her attention.

Quickly, people saw the segment as Showtime’s answer to Eat Bulaga’s AlDub, the accidental love team of Maine Mendoza and Alden Richards.

But if the ratings are to be believed, the “Twitterserye” is getting less than lukewarm response, at least in Mega Manila households.

According to the AGB Nielsen Philippines survey published in pep.ph from Sep 11-13, It’s Showtime only got 8% even with the debut of Pastillas Girl.

Eat Bulaga! meanwhile, continued to rule the noontime block with a whopping 32.1%. Unfortunately for the competition, those dates included the episode where Alden and Yaya Dub met for the second time. That day set social media records with 6.35 million mentions on Twitter in just 24 hours.
