Makati has always been one daunting urban jungle: for all its fantastic skyscrapers and no shortage of alluring bars and restaurants, the city is filled with several one-way alleys, complex bus stops, and not enough underpasses for city dwellers to quickly get from point A to point B. Yet the city has worked to change that image in recent years, taking steps to turn Makati into a walkable city, especially in its bustling central business district.

So if you have always wanted to spend a quick work break taking a stroll around Ayala Triangle Gardens or spend lunch in one of Salcedo or Legazpi Village’s many hotspots, now you can — thanks to the newly opened Paseo de Roxas-Villar Underpass.

Ayala Land’s Make It Makati Facebook page posted the following update:

“The Paseo de Roxas-Villar Underpass was recently inaugurated by Makati Central Estate Association Inc. (MACEA), together with Ayala Land, Inc. (ALI) and the Makati LGU. This new underpass connects Ayala Triangle Gardens to Salcedo Village, providing a safer and more comfortable walking experience for Makatizens.”

The underpass began construction in 2019 and connects Paseo de Roxas on the Ayala Triangle side, and Villar street on the other.
