Palawan, Boracay, Cebu make it to World’s Best Islands list

In case you needed any more reasons to visit the Philippines or travel domestically — three Philippine islands were just ranked among the 25 Best Islands in the World by Travel + Leisure magazine in the latest edition of their annual list.

The pristine isles of Boracay (9th), Palawan (11th), and Cebu (16th) made it onto the list, racking up scores of 90.89, 90.81, and 90.89, respectively.

The publication releases its World’s Best rankings based on its readers’ ratings of an island’s natural attractions and beaches, as well as activities and sights, food, friendliness, and overall value.

In a statement, the Philippines Department of Tourism celebrated the inclusion of the country’s top tourist destinations in the publication. “The Philippines is truly blessed with the unrivaled beauty of our natural resources coupled by the warmth and endless talent of the Filipinos manifested in this citation of Travel + Leisure that included our Cebu, Palawan, and Boracay in their prestigious list,” Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco said.

Only Palawan made it into Travel + Leisure’s rankings last year (at #19), so having three of our islands included in this latest list is quite the achievement. Greece is the only other country to have three of its islands included in this year’s list.
