This year, BenCab is celebrating 50 years in the industry. Kicking off the year-long celebration is “Frames of Reference,” an exhibit that offers a glimpse into his life and art from the ‘60s onward. It opens today at the Lopez Museum and Library in Pasig.

Curated by Dannie Alvarez, “Frames of Reference” will display 15 of his never-before-exhibited artbooks that prominently feature his love for handmade paper, the art of bookbinding, and nostalgia.

Early studies of his prominent artworks like “Sabel,” “Larawan,” and Japanese Women will be on display until July 4.

Of course, “Frames of Reference” is just the first of many exhibits to come. There is, of course, “Sabel’ the Musical,” happening at the end of the month, which is said to be the highlight of his retrospective.

Until July 4. 8am-5pm. G/F Benpres Building, Meralco Avenue cor Exchange Road, Ortigas Center, Pasig.
