A 27-year old loop artist from Los Baños, Laguna won the Mossimo Music Summit 2015. Zsaris Mendioro bested talents from all over the Philippines.
Live looping is the recording and playback of music in real-time. Some do it to add an extra layer of sound to the live performance, while some, like Zsaris, do it because they are alone on stage. In fact, Zsaris introduces herself as a one-woman band.
Aside from bragging rights, Mendioro bagged the chance to be the country’s next big recording star as she snagged an exclusive recording and management contract with Curve Entertainment. She also won PHP500,000 worth of cash and prizes.
Zsaris, a communication graduate of the University of the Philippines Los Baños, sang a live loop version of Rivermaya’s hit, “Himala”. She integrated her beatbox and guitaring skills to the amazement of the crowd.
“Para [ito] sa mga maliliit at malalaking himala ng ating mga buhay,” Zsaris said on her Facebook page.

In an emotional post, Zsaris thanked her friends and family for their trust and support: “Hindi ko inakalang posible itong mangyari. Madami na akong ginawa at sinakripisyo, magawa ko lang ito– para patuloy na lumikha gamit ang umaapaw na biyaya na pinagkaloob sa akin. Maraming salamat sa aking pamilya dahil sa wakas, nakita nyo ang aking pinaghirapan at kung saan nananahan ang puso ko kahit malayo ako. Sa mga kaibigan na nagabot ng suporta sa iba’t ibang paraan at sa buong pananalig sa akin.”
