In case you’ve been mulling over a book haul but your budget pulls you back, here’s a hidden gem worth considering: a bookstore along Aguinaldo highway in Silang, Cavite that sells books at PHP200 (US$3.62) per kilo.

Facebook user Keneth Gadian shared his find on Facebook — a bookshop named Bookchigo, offering stacks of books around its location, even all the way up to the stairs and a second-floor loft.

“I didn’t find Narnia, but this magical bookstore along Aguinaldo Highway was a pretty close second,” Gadian wrote online.

Gadian shared he was riding the local jeepney when he saw the “BOOKS PER KILO” sign and immediately alighted.

“They have lots of novels, books on art, Star Wars, British architecture, history, classics, teen novels and children’s books. An hour isn’t enough,” he shared, adding that he bought two books on heraldic designs and writings of the mystics.

Calling it “like Booksale but on steroids,” referring to another book surplus store that sells secondhand books, the post was shared over 8,400 times.

Bookchigo can be found at Subarashi Japan Surplus along Aguinaldo Highway, Silang, Cavite. It is also near the Acienda Outlet Mall.
