Are you one of the makeup-loving Filipinos who hoarded Ever Bilena cosmetics during their recent sale?
We’ve got some bad news for you: one of their products, the lip and cheek stain in the shade of Night Berry, has been contaminated, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced yesterday.

In a statement, the FDA warned the public against buying the product which they “tested and found to contain microbial contaminants beyond the 1000 cfu/g limit set” by the government. They added that the makeup is “non-compliant with the existing standards” which means it would “pose potential hazards to the consuming public.”
“The use of adulterated cosmetic products may result in adverse reactions, including but not limited to, skin irritation, itchiness, anaphylactic shock, and organ failure,” the agency said.
Microbiological contamination occurs when something becomes contaminated with bacteria, yeast, mold, fungi, and virus, among other toxins.

The FDA discouraged stores from selling the product. It also urged the public to report any selling, distribution, or adverse effects from using the makeup by emailing ereport@fda.gov.ph, or calling (+632) 8857-1900 local 8113 or 8107.
Ever Bilena, one of the leading cosmetic brands in the Philippines, recently had their 38th-anniversary sale where all of their products were sold for PHP38 (less than USD$1) each. Many of their stores and kiosks were sold out immediately, leading to frustration among makeup mavens.
