UPDATE: The Monster got us good. It is, as it turns out, a great April Fools’ joke, and Rushers can enjoy listening to their favorite morning radio show in peace, hopefully for the next 25 years more.
If you grew up listening to The Morning Rush on Monster RX 93.1 while driving yourself to work or school, then we have some sad news for you: the beloved radio show is bidding goodbye after over 25 years. And no, it is not an April Fool’s joke.
The radio station made its announcement on social media, where it thanked long-time listeners for “over 25 years of fun and laughter” and called it the end of an era.
“We’ll be saying goodbye to #TheMorningRush for now, but don’t worry! You’ll still hear Chico, Hazel, and Markki on different Monster shows. Stay tuned for our updated program schedule soon,” Monster RX wrote.
The station then invited fans to tune in for the show’s Farewell Week between April 4 to 8.
One of the most popular FM shows in the Philippines, the morning show first went on-air in 1996, turning original hosts Chico and Delamar into household names. A number of DJs have since joined The Morning Rush, such as Gino Quillamor, Hazel, Rica G, and Markki Stroem.
