‘Norte’ to screen at Ayala Malls this March, NY this summer

Everything’s coming up roses for independent filmmaker Lav Diaz and his recent masterpiece, Norte: Hangganan ng Kasaysayan.

Following its inclusion in the Top 10 Films of 2013 list of Sight and Sound magazine, the Cinema Guild, its US distributor, says the movie will be released this summer in New York.

Norte is a loose adaptation of Fyodor Dostoevsky’s Crime and Punishment and runs for four hours and 10 minutes — Diaz’s shortest.

It stars Sid Lucero as a self-destructive law school dropout who murders an opportunistic money lender, Archie Alemania who is wrongly convicted of the crime and Angeli Bayani as Alemania’s suffering wife.

The good news? You don’t need to book a ticket to New York to watch the movie.

Special screenings are scheduled this month at select Ayala Malls cinemas: Trinoma (Mar 11), Ayala Center Cebu (Mar 18), Greenbelt 3 (Mar 25) and Glorietta 4 (Mar 31).

All Norte: Hangganan ng Kasaysayan screenings are at 6:30pm. Tickets range from PHP250-PHP350.  To purchase in advance, write to pauline@origin8media.com  or lirycpaolodelacruz@gmail.com.
