Is IKEA finally in the Philippines? It turns out that it’s not.
Yesterday, Pepper Teehankee posted a photo on Instagram with the caption: “The #Swedish ambassador confirmed that #ikea will soon be opening in the #philippines. Could this be the secret #ikeaphilippines location in #cabuyao #laguna?”

The same photo was tweeted by lifestyle blogger and columnist Cecile Zamora van Straten with the caption: “Omg Ikea in Laguna!!”

Filipinos ready for some D.I.Y. furniture and Swedish meatballs took to social media to share their excitement.

IKEA in Laguna. The struggle of having IKEA tables shipped from abroad will soon be over.

But the excitement was all for nothing. Today, Lazada Philippines’ CEO Inanc Balci said on Facebook that the site photographed is actually a new warehouse for the e-commerce company in Cabuyao, Laguna.
To be fair, the building does look a lot like the average IKEA store. For comparison, here’s a photo of an IKEA store in Seoul, South Korea.

It was announced last year that the Swedish home furnishing company will be opening in the Philippines but there was no mention of an opening date or location.
Right now, all people can do is wait a little more.
